Vivienne Boon is a full time Lecturer in the Department of Sociology at the University of Surrey. She obtained a BA in Media, Communication and Cultural Studies (first class) at the University of Leeds, and an MA in Social and Political Thought (with distinction) from the University of Warwick. She is in the process of submitting her PhD ‘Habermas's Writings on Europe: Not Habermasian Enough?' to the University of Liverpool. This PhD thesis was undertaken in the Department of Philosophy and funded by the first prestigious Duncan Norman Scholarship.

Vivienne's research interests are primarily in social and political philosophy, moral philosophy, critical theory (especially Habermas), ethics of war and violence, politics of identity and recognition, global justice and human rights, cosmopolitanism, ethics of torture, Europeanization and philosophy of communication.
