About
Sammy joined the University of Surrey as a PhD Researcher in July 2009. His PhD research proposes a fresh perspective to study the destination images of residents and tourists. He is currently serving as the STES Director of Industry & Alumni Relations and the School of Management representative on the Surrey PGR conference committee. Besides, he is actively involved in a number of research projects. Sammy is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Westminster supervising several MA students for their dissertation writing.
Over the years, Sammy developed an extensive network in the tourism sector through his professional career development at DMO, NGO, travel trade, and his personal tourism ventures. Sammy is described as a pioneer to introduce new initiatives in tourism. He is awarded by Tourism Commission of HKSAR Government and Macau Government Tourist Office at various open competitions for tourism product development. His personal and product stories are featured in over 10 local and international newspapers and travel magazines.
Sammy was born in Hong Kong and was educated at a Canadian school. After graduating from The University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor degree in Economics and Finance, he pursued a Master degree in Hotel and Tourism Management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Sammy is a keen traveler and has visited around 200 destinations in over 45 countries. His ambition is to explore at least one new country every year.
